Our Philosophy

At Atomic City, we believe software applications are being dragged in two different directions that are not customer-friendly. Applications are being sold as free to force unwanted ads and micro-transactions to compensate for the software cost. Or, the application is “rented” to customers by charging ongoing subscription fees. Both methods help increase software publisher revenue but destroy the user experience.

We are trying to bring back a classic software experience by following the following philosophy.

No ads

We will never place ads in our software. There is no way to integrate ads into applications that isn’t disruptive or annoying.

Limited, if any, subscriptions

We will make every effort not to need to charge subscription fees. If an application can be made without necessary ongoing services, we will make it that way. Doing so will remove the need to charge subscription fees.

Focus on desktop and mobile platforms

It would be foolish to rule out web applications, but our focus is on desktop and mobile platforms. Using native code instead of wrappers around web applications improves performance and user experience. It is worth the extra effort for us to create native applications.

These extra efforts will improve customer experience and bring software closer to its golden years.
